"I came to Gero on a recommendation from a close friend. I somehow missed it when I had done a previous Takayama trip and I am glad I came back. The town is very small and the hotel is easily walkable from the station, some people say 15 mins but it was more like 8-10 mins and that was while stopping to take pictures of the Hida river. "What an amazing place this is!! Everyone was telling me that I needed to stay in a Ryokan while I was in Japan and the Asunaro was the PERFECT place to experience a traditional Japanese inn. Right from when we arrived at the hotel, the staff were welcoming and could not do enough to make our stay fabulous.
