Experience heart-stopping water slides, thrilling tiger encounters, go-kart racing, relaxing on a river, island hopping and house boating at this Gold Coast suburb.

The Gold Coast suburb of Coomera, perched on the Coomera River, has thrilling rides, waterslides, go karting and extreme indoor skating. It is also a great place to relax as you float down the river on a houseboat or try estuarine fishing.

Get ready for an action-packed few days of fun at the big theme parks at Coomera. Challenge yourself on sheer drops or race your friends on the waterslides at Wet’n’Wild Water World and WhiteWater World. Feed and walk with tigers at Dreamworld’s Tiger Island before exciting trips on the thrilling Giant Drop, Tower of Terror and BuzzSaw rides. See multiple theme parks with multi-pass tickets over one day or many.

Race family and friends at the go-kart tracks. Enjoy skateboarding, roller blading or BMX stunts at the indoor skate park on the huge box jumps, wall rides and half pipes with soft landings in foam pits.

Coomera’s name is taken from an Aboriginal word, meaning different things in the languages of the Aboriginal groups of this area. To some it means blood and refers to the Coomera River flowing through the area like a vein. For others it is the name for a local wattle species that was used to sedate fish. The river certainly merits both names. Find plentiful fish within its life-giving waters and experience the relaxing effect it has on vacationers.

Escape life’s stresses on a houseboat go boating in the canals and head out to explore the protected waters between Wave Break Island and Macleay Island in Moreton Bay. Watch just below the water’s surface for dolphins and turtles. Fish for trevally, bream, cod, mangrove jack and flathead from the deck of a houseboat or from the Coomera River fishing platform.

Coomera is located at the northern end of the Gold Coast. Drive 40 minutes from Brisbane or take a short boat trip from South Stradbroke Island.
