Take on the thrilling water rides or splash in the pool at WhiteWater World on the Gold Coast. It’s one of the most spectacular waterparks in the country, featuring some of Australia’s biggest water slides and even a water rollercoaster. The park is part of Dreamworld, one of Australia’s best-loved theme parks.
Since opening in 2006, WhiteWater World has attracted thrill-seekers and families alike. The waterpark has three main slide towers, which contain the park’s main attractions grouped by level of thrill to be had.
Those after a real adrenaline rush can speed down The Wedgie to experience speeds of up to 45 kilometres (28 miles) per hour and a near vertical 17-meter (56-foot) drop. For something new, ride the intense Super Tubes Hydrocoaster.
Team up with your mates and spin around in The Green Room, an exciting group Tornado slide. For a less extreme thrill, share a tube on The Rip or race your friends down The BRO slide. Finally, take on 1.5-meter (5-feet) waves in The Cave of Waves.
Attractions for younger visitors are located on ground level, separate from the three slide towers. There are two children’s play areas and a wave pool. The Pipeline Plunge is a multi-level play area with four slides and water activities. Wiggle Bay is a Wiggles themed toddler area featuring a shallow pool, four brightly coloured slides and interactive water play activities. Kids can also get musical with the water pianos and flutes.
WhiteWater World is located on the Pacific Highway, about a one-hour drive south of Brisbane. The park is open daily, except December 25 and April 25. Opening hours are often extended in summer and during the school breaks of both Queensland and nearby New South Wales. Be sure to arrive early to beat the crowds during weekends and holidays.
Rent a cabana and food and beverage package for a more laid-back experience. Consider purchasing a One Day World Pass if you plan on visiting Dreamworld as well.
