Quiet cottage Near Hawker

A cottage in the outback, but near the Flanders Ranges & the small town of Hawker. All the comforts of home & beautiful sunsets to watch.

Comfortable stay

The cottage had everything we needed for our stay and is in a great location to expore the Flinders Ranges. We also loved our visits from the friendly cat and dog who visited us daily!

Great farm stay close to Wilpena Pound. Facilities were simple but very much adequate. Comfy bed. The environment is absolutely stunning!!!!

Peaceful and quiet

This little cottage is 70's style, no frills but has all you need for a stay close to Wilpena without other people around. The sunsets are amazing and the location perfect for exploring the Flinders Ranges.

Lovely Cabin

The property was very homely and cosy. My parents and I really enjoyed our time there and hope to visit again someday. It was in a wonderful peaceful location where you could see the stars. Emily was a great host, very fast to respond to any questions. Highly recommend, thanks Emily!

Private, quiet and with laundry and outdoor clothes line in addition to a functional kitchen. Loved the welcoming committee of cat, dogs and chickens who were all friendly but did not bowl us over. The location is perfect. Not far out of Hawker and we were given easy to follow directions. From here it is an easy drive to Wilpena Pound and the southern Flinders Ranges.

Extremely quiet location which is exactly what we were after in the outback. Friendly host and we felt super safe as he was living just opposite the property with his family. The facilities are superb and we really enjoyed our 2 nights in this property. We were sitting at night outside under the stars, needed no star gazing observatory to see the magnificent sky.

Hillview Cottage was a great place to serve as a base as we explored the lower Flinders Ranges. It was clean, well set up and exactly what we were looking for. The hosts were friendly clear in their communication.

The serenity!

What a wonderful place to stay! The cabin is only about 8 km from Hawker but the place is utterly quiet and peaceful with views of the Flinders Ranges all around. Night sky to die for and as a special treat the farm's little dog and cat come over for visits. Never mind the decor's a little dated, it's very livable and surprisingly spacious. King bed a definite bonus.

Nice tidy property well equipped and comfortable. Nice large bed Easy to find. Good access to Flinders Ranges Shower could be sealed at the bottom of the screen to stop water flooding the toilet area

Lovely quiet location with great views

This property is in a lovely quiet location and we really enjoyed an afternoon bevvy looking at the stunning views. The host was very responsive and helpful too. Although the house is very livable, the only downside is the house inside, furniture, carpets, crockery, etc. is tired and very dated. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this stay to others, on the understanding to expect a dated interior.

Flinders Ranges Summer Holidays

The little cottage was cute, and comfortably accommodated the 4 of us. There is an electric stove, fridge and comfortable beds, and fans in bedrooms, air conditioner in the living / kitchen area. The cottage is about 15 mins driver from Hawker. Hawker is the closest place to buy basic groceries, best to stock up in the summer from Port Agusta. The cottage provided us with a comfortable two night stay as we discovered the Flinders Ranges.

Appliances were old and many didn’t work properly. Carpets, nets warn and ripped. Furniture old and chairs stained, bbq seen much better days. Family pets visited often which was lovely. We left early even though had to pay to stay elsewhere also. Needs some investment as not a great experience.

Geat cottage if you are looking for an authentic experience. Located on the homestead of a working property. Owners house was next door but they did not intrude. However the owner was extremely helpful when we needed any help. The cottage had everything we needed. Full fridge, oven, stove, coffee machine, microwave, stocked kitchen, washing machine. Easy access to Hawker and the Flinders. Beautiful sunsets and night skys. We will be back.... maybe not in the stormy season.

The cottage is a good base to explore the Flinders Ranges. It can be reached via unsealed roads only, but for those who love peace and quiet it is a gem. We loved seeing the sun rise and set over the vast empty spaces, and visits from the owners' pets.

Secluded little spot

Great location. Way better than a caravan park/cabin as there is no one else around for miles (except the owners house nearby). Perfect for a family of 4. Would definitely return.
