"We enjoyed our stay at the Castle and the staff were wonderful. The property is isolated so be prepared to stay in respect to dining etc. Our meals were delicious and the dining area was lovely. The room was small but comfortable "
"Friendly staff, lovely food. Unfortunately tv didnt have great reception, isnt good when on road all week and have nothing to do except drink in bar !"
"On entering the property we was greeted by the reception staff they were very friendly and helpful, they made our short stay feel at ease, had everything we needed and the owner was so polite even carried my bag upstairs and said anything we need just ask. Really can’t fault our room was lovely felt homely & cosy, the area was nice & quiet. Highly recommend this place. We had the family room as it was the last one left for us to book & was a great size room. 10/10 "
"Set in lovely countryside views, owners & staff all veey friendly & helpful, fabulous choice of breakfasts, meals available during evening also with a varied menu including gluten free. No hesitation in recommending The Royal Oak for any length of stay, wish we could have stayed for longer!!!!"
"Lovely, quiet hotel close to old Durham. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and particular kudos to those working the evening shift in the restaurant and bar."

"Check in was busy due to many guests arriving at the same time but the staff dealt with it well and were very friendly. It's a beatiful old building with nice modern rooms. The bathroom was big with a walk in shower and a large bath.
The restaurant dinner was really very good and also great service from the staff.
I did not use the spa or pool facilities so can't comment on them."
"We arrived at the property with no check in instructions.
When returning hours later with the check in details, we did not feel safe in the area.
The large window would not close and nothing was done about it.
We left and stayed else where
They have refused to refund us.
DO NOT STAY HERE"
