"Good discount on normal 1 night price made this hotel stay unmissable. Literally across the road from Buxton Opera house. However, our double bed was 2 singles joined together and my mattress was hard, like sleeping on a table top or floor. I wasnt allowed to book breakfast at time of room booking (£24 for 2) so we walked down to Wetherspoons (10 mins) and had it for £12 for 2 with unlimited Lavazza coffee. "

"Staff were helpful and great to talk to, and parking was convenient. Actual hotel is a bit of a walk from town centre, so bear that in mind (there is a bus stop within a 5min walk). On the other hand the area was nice and quiet (although I did stay outside of the academic year). Also this hotel has communal kitchens on each floor where you can cook and store leftovers, but there is no restaurant, although the Halifax Hall nearby does if you need a meal."

"This hotel is set within the Endcliffe student village making it perfect for visiting my daughter. The staff were very friendly, the room was very comfortably. I had a meal in the bar area which was very tasty and the breakfast was fabulous. Couldn't fault the experience will definitely stay again."

"The location of Old Hall is excellent and this needs to be factored into the price you pay compared to other nearby hotels and the quality of them. Breakfast is fresh and tasty with enough variety and this is included in the price, which many aren't. This hotel offers comfort, my bed was fine, room was spacious. Floor are unlevel, of course they are, it is an old hotel, it has character reminiscent of days past, yes it's worn and needs renovation but to upgrade to meet everybody's needs would surely involve significant cost which would then place it at similar pricing to Ensana, making it then inaccessible to many, including me -if you want modern, high tech and clinical don't book this, but comfort, convenience and character for me means a lot. Short staffing may have been an issue when I stayed but unfortunately everywhere you go it's the same or this reflects in price I'm finding, and it's a sign of the times sadly, times are tough and we all need to be a little kinder and tolerant where it allows us to be, obviously I'm not suggesting complaints shouldn't be raised and addressed where relevant. I found the staff who I encountered warm and welcoming and therefore I am booking again for the new year as you cannot get a better location for the Opera House."
