An imperial citadel, a misty river and a modern heart combine to give the city centre of Hue a unique look and feel.
With most of its heritage erased by wars, Hue now focuses on providing 21st-century comforts to intrepid travellers. The area straddles the Perfume River (Huong Giang), with the royal complex to the north and the modern centre to the south. Dai Noi, the Imperial Citadel, shows a glimpse of what was once the capital of the Nguyen Dynasty. Stroll along the promenade, chew on the local sesame candy, pose next to the "Toi ♥ Hue” sign, and enjoy the river views.
