Quiet and clean, walking distance to most things.
Clean and quiet, big room, older hotel but fairly well maintained. On the downside, hot water is solar, after dark no hot water, $5 per cup for morning coffee and only available Sat and Sun, “restaurant “ is very minimal in what and when they serve. No vending machines or ice machines. Nice beach is a very short walk.

Very basic hotel about 20 minute walk into town of Jaco. Comfortable bed, good air conditioning, large balcony, good shower. But only cold water tap in the sink (shower had hot water), no shampoo, conditioner, lotion, or hair dryer. No coffee maker. Very old style safe with a key for rent for $3 US per day, with caution that if you lose the key, could take 2-3 days to get someone to open it. We chose not to use it. Felt safe. Refrigerators could be rented but discouraged due to humidity and one was not readily available. No hand towels of washcloths, just 2 towels per person and not allowed to take them off the property. Description on Expedia said bicycle rentals available but I do not think so. Staff were pleasant and helpful. The hotel and restaurant are clean. Pool loungers are old but pool was nice with some shady areas. Seemed like a safe, quiet area.

Very conveniently located to downtown Jaco. Service was 5 stars. Cold ac. Rooms are bare minimum no refrigerator or coffee pot. Beds were uncomfortable and only a light sheet no comforter..

Pochote had a bug invasion, big ants with wings pouring out of the roof. I have photographs of the German male manager taking photographs of the bugs. They lied to Orbitz and our credit card about negotiations, and refused to give us more than two nights refund. We stayed zero nights, but they would only offer another room and two night refund. Our credit card will dispute the charge.

Very unprofessional. Did not feel like a hotel. Mid day on a hot afternoon we asked the bar for some drinks he said the kitchen was closed as he stood behind the bar with all these drinks around him. He told us to go to town. We were one couple out of a few guests so maybe they didnt feel the need to please. Cleaning lady didnt change the sheets for few nights she just left the same stained sheets on the bed until we complained. Only good thing is that we stayed 2 days and not any more.

Very quiet,clean,great hot shower and beautiful pool area. My only complaint would be the internet service.Overall price paid was very worth the two night stay and would go back no questions asked.One other negative no refrigerator in room,however ice is available for free in daytime.

Last minute Booking
While nearing the last few nights of our trip in Costa Rica, we decided to take one night stay in Jaco. After looking at about 10 other hotels I booked the grande pochote for 113$ w/ tax. Parking feels secure in the front of the building and I think the physical location on Jaco beach has a big role in that, With crocs casino a stone's throw away and home rentals to the south. Directly off the West gate is Jaco beach, literally a 60 sec walk to waterfront from our room! The pool was actually more inviting than the pictures on Expedia.com, one side is taylored for sun bathers, while the other is shaded with lard modern looking square unbrellas. Lastly the Management was very Pura Vida, I checked out of our room while watching German Football at the front desk and had a chat with staff. Great Tico feel with hints Western Europe .

Good average hotel for short stay
We stayed at Pochote Grande for a couple of nights in Nov. We found the room to be clean and spacious with comfortable beds and a nice sized balcony facing the pool. However the bedding only consisted of a single sheet, poor pillows and no extra linens. Towels were of cheap quality and no wash clothes. The walls and doors do not offer any sound proofing as we were kept awake by our neighbors on both nights. The hotel itself had a nice pool and they maintain the grounds very well and have a security guard on constant watch. The Jaco beach is right outside the gate and is beautiful. The hotel is located in a quite end of Jaco so if you want restaurants and/or nightlife, you will have to take a short 5 minute drive
