Inspired by the traditional gardens of Kyoto, the Japanese Garden is a serene and picturesque set of landscape grounds. It contains an array of rocks, lakes, islands and a tea pavilion that exist in harmony with the verdant natural surroundings. Inspect the impressive displays of Japanese works of art adorning the eclectic realms of these gardens.
Smell the budding flowers and plants in spring and snap photos of the reds and purples of the changing foliage in fall. See the reflection of the colorful vegetation in the surface of the lake. Look for the range of large and bright fish swimming in the clear water.
Stroll along the well-paved walkways that meander through the trees and around the water. Cross the lake via the traditional red wooden bridge to reach a charming islet.
As you walk along the flanks of a canal, enjoy the utter tranquility in these quiet surroundings that take you away from the bustle of city life. The complex contains a playground that will keep the kids entertained.
Look around the peaceful rock garden and have a break at the tea pavilion. Spot the typical Japanese lanterns, which light up the garden as the sun begins to descend. Inspect the intriguing bust of 20th-century Zen master Taisen Deshimaru.
Explore the surrounding fields of the Compans Caffarelli park and lay down a blanket on a patch of grass for a picnic with a scenic backdrop of trees.
Note that it is free to enter the gardens, which are open daily from morning until evening. Bring bug repellent to stave off the insects.
