Enjoy expansive views of the Pacific Ocean and Windermere Point from the bedroom, dining room, and kitchen with vast outdoor decks that make up this private compound and property 'Fort Camp'.
The original main cabin was built as a fishing cabin in 1945. Recently renovated this little gem has all of the amenities needed for a cozy retreat away from home. The compact fishing cabin has one full bath, perfect sized kitchen and a quaint bedroom with a luxurious queen-sized bed. The cabin offers white pine floors and furnished with vintage and handmade eclectic pieces. The cabin has a nap inducing built in sofa with reading nook positioned next to the original stone fireplace that is fully functional and perfect for cozy fires. Fresh linens, toiletries, hair dryer and cookware essentials are provided.
Behind the main cabin is the Bunk House where you'll find an adorable room with 2 sleeping alcoves. One Full-sized bed and one pint size single along with a tiny toilet room and a wall hung camp sink for washing up. Pack and Play/Portable crib.
The camp has fast WiFi for connecting on your own devices, but you'll most likely be enjoying the views instead of watching a screen, as there are no TVs to be found, just like true camp.
The kitchen is equipped with a gas range, coffee maker, toaster and all of the kitchen essentials needed to stay in and cook a homemade meal. The dining area has a handmade table that seats 4. You can dine al fresco on the oceanfront deck while listening to the sea lions and ocean waves. End each day with a front row seat to a beautiful California sunset over the Pacific Ocean.
The presence of the property itself instills a kind of story-making. Its handmade elements, personal touches, and custom log furniture, outdoor shower call to mind an honest, handmade world, where times were slow and things were made to last. Hints of its past and worn edges throughout just like earned patches at camp — age old redwood siding that has seen years of pacific coast sunsets, prominently displayed signs, found objects, mismatched blankets and pillows bring you right back to sleepovers and tents.
Step outside to hand milled Monterey Cypress decks and terraces that were build with old trees on the property. The built in bench is perfect for watching the light change over the ocean throughout the day and watching the whales migrating up and down the coast. Just below lower terrace deck is your very own campfire pit complete with vintage marshmallow roasting sticks. Share your stories and create lasting memories while sitting around the fire with your camp mates.
Follow the pine tree stump path next to the bunk house and you'll find the sunny bench perch with low table perfect for your morning cup of coffee, mediation, or reading your favorite book. Continue on up the path to the gazebo fitted with your very own soaking hot tub ready for you to unwind and listen to the waves.
Fort Camp allows easy access to all of the incredible features along the North Coast, Salt Point State Park, Fort Ross, Gualala, Guernville, Jenner and more. Just 2 hours north of San Francisco, along the famed Pacific Coast Highway 1. While all here to cook at 'Camp Fort' you can also enjoy a great meal or drinks out within a short distance.
Arriving at Fort Camp feels like harking back to another era, free to return to the slower days of summer camp.
Fort Camp can only accommodate a maximum of 4 guests including visitors at any time during stay. No "sprinter or RV, trailer" parking on property.
There is a landline telephone at the house and wifi cellular calling. There is a RING Video Doorbell with audio for assistance if needed on entry located at the entry door only.
