Great Stay in Brunei

Decided to treat myself to an overnight stay in The Empire and what a fabulous experience. I was upgraded on arrival and had a fabulous room with a large bathtub and sea views. The room was very comfortable and the bed was heavenly. Sitting by the pool was a beautiful experience but remember to bring bug spray! Breakfast was fantastic and overall the experience was just wonderful.

I had a great stay at The Empire Brunei, which truly feels like a resort. The atmosphere is luxurious and serene, providing a perfect escape. Great Hotel with great views and activities

Absolutely lovely property. The rooms are very spacious. The bathroom is remarkable with nice tiles with a bath and a shower. The room have plenty of space and the amenities are great. The property have a Country Club Golf course Spa Movies Bowling and several Restaurants. A nice Lagoon for swimming. You won't be disappointed at this place. Customer service is top tier.

Overall excellent for a hotel that's now a few years old. Generally very well maintained but as it appears to be low season they had some maintenance going on while I was there - did not affect my experience but I did notice it a few places when I was exploring. Rooms are spacious, tons of closet space, bathrooms equally spacious. And the main building is beautiful inside, still stylish outside. Lots of swimming pools too. Main quirk was the bathroom lights are motion sensor only and turn off automatically, there's a sign saying close the bathroom door if this bothers you.

Really enjoyed our stay at this amazing hotel. Staff and service are great, everyone is friendly, attentive and helpful. We love the activities offered as well, cycling etc. one feedback is related to food option, there’s only one restaurant open so we had no choice but to go to one, hope there will be more opened in the future. Overall we had a great stay.

Expectations for The Empire Brunei were very high beforehand. The wording of the self-declaration on their website is: "Truly one of the finest golf, meeting and spa resorts in the Asia Pacific Region." Unfortunately, we did not find the service and quality of the hotel to be that good. We were bitterly disappointed! The service is extremely below average for a 5-star hotel. The management is clearly overwhelmed by the quality mentioned. Gold decorations are no help if basic points are not right. There is simply a lack of professionalism.

Empire Brunei off season

LOVELY staff! Huge room w/a gorgeous balcony. The drapes were long enough, but not nearly wide enough to actually make the room DARK, so that was frustrating. The food wasn't great. Not bad, and again the service almost made up for it, but nothing was fantastic. Must say that the place was far more than 1/2 empty which made actually sitting at the pool DELIGHTFUL!

Overall this is a lovely place to stay and relax. The grounds are well looked after and swimming pools lovely. This place is NOT walking distance to anything; however, does have restaurants, cafe, and a country club. Definitely worth staying at least a night as the views are beautiful and main lobby/foyer is impressive. Unfortunately our stay was less than great due to no hot water in our room (yes we notified staff). Normally i would just manage and only mention it due to the price.
