Beautiful hotel in the middle of homeless chaos

"Beautiful hotel with a lot of history. We enjoyed our stay even though a few things were not pleasant. All staff we came in contact with was wonderful and very friendly and helpful. Valet parking was great. We were not able to dine at the hotel due to private events both days of our stay. Therefore, we had to walk around the block to eat. Downtown Dallas has become overrun with homeless people making this walking experience unpleasant. The hotel staff do a great job keeping these people away from the hotel entrance but once you step away from there you are surrounded by them. The hotel is very old and not sound proof. While in our beautiful room on the 6th floor, we could hear all the talking and yelling from the street below 24/7. It is also unpleasant to hear the neighbors next to us let their door SLAM every time they leave the room. People really need to be more considerate and remember that some people use hotels to try and rest. Due to the overwhelming amount of rude, loud and unpleasant homeless people taking over the downtown area, we will no longer stay in this area. For many years we have loved Downtown Dallas but sadly, it is not the same anymore. "
