Laurier Québec is one of the biggest shopping centres in Canada and one of the city’s most popular attractions. More than 12 million locals and out-of-towners come here each year to browse around 350 stores. Buy clothing, jewellery, electronic goods and books from big-name brands and smaller boutiques.
The first indoor shopping centre in Québec was Place Laurier, built here in 1961. As well as a name-change, the centre has significantly expanded to accommodate the number of visitors and a huge array of stores and attractions.
You’ll need at least half a day to see everything Laurier has to offer. Visit one of nine information desks to pick up a map and get your bearings. Staff can help you locate what you want to see and buy. Stores cater to visitors of all ages, tastes and budgets. Take home the latest trends or invest in a timeless wardrobe staple. Splurge on a personalised shopper and stylist who can take you around the centre and help you pick out a new look.
Cafés, food courts and restaurants offer international cuisine. Linger over a three-course meal or break for a light snack before you get back to more shopping.
Children between two and eight years old can spend the day in a childcare centre for a fee. Otherwise, let the kids run around the indoor playground while you enjoy a cup of coffee.
Laurier Québec is open every day, with extended opening hours on some evenings throughout the week. Check the official website for details. There is no fee for admission.
The shopping centre lies just outside Old Québec. Book a seat on the shuttle bus that runs between three locations around Québec City and Laurier Québec twice a day. If you choose to come by car, there are more than 5,000 parking spaces with no fee.
