Llechwedd, meaning hillside in English, was built in 1911 and is a former country seat of historical note. The house enjoys outstanding sea views from its elevated position, and is surrounded by extensive private gardens. It is located within the Snowdonia National Park, in the popular coastal village of Llwyngwril. With good transport links along the coast using the Cambrian Railway line, it is close to many of the attractions of this beautiful area of Snowdonia (Eryri) . A perfect spot for cyclists and walkers, the Wales Coastal Path runs along the lane behind the house and Cadair Idris is 5 miles away. Mountain Bike enthusiasts can enjoy Coed y Brenin, with it's world renowned Mountain Bike Centre, as well as the Mawddach Trail. There is a local beach within walking distance, and for families, the traditional seaside town of Barmouth is situated across the estuary. There is a village shop within 150m of the house and a pub 100m away.
Llechwedd can comfortably sleep 8 - 10 persons in 4 bedrooms, all with sea views.
Bedroom 1 - King Size Bed with sofa bed
Bedroom 2 - Twin Beds
Bedroom 3 - Single Bed with pull out single bed
Bedroom 4 - Double Bed
There are 2 bathrooms upstairs. Bathroom 1 can be either used as an ensuite with bedroom 1 to create a master suite, or used as a family bathroom. Bathroom 2 is located next to Bedroom 4 and has a dressing room attached with additional sleeping facilities.
Downstairs there is a Drawing room with 3 sofas, a cosy multi fuel fire with complimentary logs, and fabulous sea views. The lounge has a sofa, dining table for 10 and again has sea views. Both rooms have tv's and dvd players. We have provided books, cd's, dvd's and board games for children and adults alike.
The breakfast kitchen is well equipped with a kettle, toaster and Nespresso coffee machine. We have a dining table seating 4. Off the breakfast kitchen, the main kitchen has a family sized fan assisted electric range cooker and dishwasher. Off the main kitchen there is a large pantry with a fridge freezer. There is also a downstairs w.c. Externally there is a washing machine and tumble dryer.
The private gardens are a real feature of the house extending to some 1.5 acres. There is a unique turreted garden room, again with lovely sea views to Cardigan bay, and a summer house with adjacent views to Barmouth and the Snowdonia mountain range. Surrounding the house there is a grand terrace, which has several more vantage point views of the sea and mountains. There is a garage, and external parking for up to three cars.
We have refurbished Llechwedd so that it retains all of its original and characterful features, but with every modern convenience you would expect to enjoy, including complimentary wifi and Netflix tv. This is how our guests have described Llechwedd - spotless, grandiose, characterful, quirky, spacious, comfortable. There are few straight lines or chic minimalist layouts to be found. Llechwedd is for guests who appreciate charm and history with modern amenities, yet in a grand Edwardian country house setting.
