Under refurb right now, but noise was at a minimum and entry still very clean and the alternatives for bar and restaurant well chosen and efficiently run. "I wonder if this was a coaching inn back in the day as it's on the way into the city, but it's just outside the walls and on the end of Stane St, the Roman connection to the world eastwards.So it's an old rambling inn with many rooms in nooks and crannies. Our room was adequate, a twin as I booked late.It has a massive dining room downstairs to feed everyone, which it does in some style. We tasted the bangers and mash, with local sausages. The problem came in the morning when I wanted to leave...
