"The second time we stayed here within a week, as we came back to Akureyri and really loved this place. However, we were placed in a larger room with a bunk and two single beds. As we are a couple, we wanted a double bed, in a standard twin room. However, when we called the property, they insisted that this room was an 'upgrade.' We had to sleep on separate beds, and we didn't need such a big room. We also didn't have a sink in this room, which we had on our previous stay."

However, coming here during the last week of November, we found the entry stairs to be completely covered over with ice (super dangerous), and I mean THICK ice. "On the hillside across the fjord from the airport and town, it was in the middle of having an extension when we were there (boy, Icelandic builders are hardy) so was a little out of sorts. That said, it is kept in immaculate order, and I’m sure the extension will be great. Currently it’s just 8 rooms, and won’t be so much bigger next year, but will have an internal lift so you don’t have to go outside to get to the lower rooms. There isn’t a restaurant, but the breakfast buffet is a good start...
