"We had a wonderful time at Hillside Lodge. It is in stunning countryside (note there is a slightly bumpy 20-30 minute drive from Luang Prabang but we found this to be an added part of the adventure) with a great pool to cool down in either after a days activity or to relax around all day. "The hotel is about 5 minutes, on bicycle provided by the hotel, away from the old town centre which is in itself the cultural heartland of Laos. The hotel is nestled in lush tropical vegetation. Given its age the hotel has been maintained to a very high standard and oozes old world charm. The staff are all very helpful and the food is excellent - try the Lao omelette for breakfast."

"Quiet guesthouse only two minutes walk to many riverside restaurants and five minutes walk to the night market. Room was comfortable and cleaned daily. Staff wasn't overly friendly but they were always very helpful with our questions and making bookings. We found some of their tour/transport services advertised to be quite overpriced while others were right on so just make sure you look around at one or two other places before booking anything. "
