Coconuts, shells and coral are among the gems that decorate the scenic Palm Bay Beach. The serene bay, which is backed by villas, condos and hotel resorts, has pockets of intriguing rock formations, black stones and white sand. Indulge yourself in a realm of luxury and pampering at the upscale resorts next to this beach.
Spread a towel or rent a lounge chair to sunbathe in the year-round hot weather. Note that the driest months are February and March. Cool down by wading in the Atlantic Ocean and swimming with your friends. Read a book in the shade of one of the many palm trees from which the beach takes its name.
Beachcomb for marine treasures with your kids and skip shiny black stones over the water. Watch the fishing boats in their pursuit of the daily catch. Walk out along the small dock for pretty views of the beach and snap photos of the nearby islands.
Attend a fish fry at one of the nearby restaurants. Local specialties include the archipelago’s famous conch salad.
Stay at one of the beachfront villas and cottages for an excellent view and easy access to the bay. Among the most popular lodgings is the Hideaways at Palm Bay, which rents out equipment for watersports activities. These include paddle boats, kayaks and fishing gear. Get pampered with the spa treatments at the Palm Bay Beach Club.
Go to Exuma Markets to stock up on groceries for your rental kitchen or snacks and drinks for daily picnics. The market is in a minimally marked green building in the heart of George Town and contains a range of groceries and goods.
Palm Bay Beach is in the northern part of George Town on the island of Great Exuma. Arrive at the George Town ferry terminal or at Exuma International Airport. Get around the area by the water taxis that pull up at the beach’s dock. Explore nearby landmarks, such as Jolly Hall Beach and Hoopers Bay.
