Pereybere Beach is a spectacular strand of white sand adorned with sea shells, swaying palm trees and deck chairs. It has a roped-off swimming area and plenty of watersports equipment and activities. Bring your whole family to this popular stretch of sand for a swim in the shallow water.
Sunbathe on the gentle slope of the strand and build sand castles with your kids. You can rent deck chairs for the day from operators on the beach. Cool down with a swim in the Indian Ocean, making sure to stay within the designated perimeter. Beachcomb for aquatic treasures, as you walk across the entirety of this small 490-foot-long (150-meter) beach.
Along the beach, find all types of vendors selling tropical fruits and ice cream. Dine at one of the restaurants with a picturesque view of the blue-green ocean gleaming in the sun. Choose between a stay at a luxury resort or a less expensive self-catering option near the beach. Practical amenities, such as ATMs and shops, line the coastal boulevard behind the strand. Purchase samosas, pizza and other food from temporary food trucks.
Browse the scuba diving shops to buy or rent equipment and go diving in the ocean. Consider snorkeling in the water to see the range of brightly colored fish. Rent a paddleboat or a kayak to take your kids out on the ocean. Other watersports activities include parasailing, windsurfing, sailing catamarans and deep-sea fishing. Book a dolphin cruise to see playful creatures swimming alongside your boat.
Arrive early for the stunning sunset to find a spot to sit before crowds arrive. Note that the beach, which is free to enter, is particularly popular on weekends. Topless sunbathing is allowed, but nude sunbathing is not.
Pereybere Beach is in its namesake village, just a 5-minute drive northeast from the heart of Grand Baie at the northern tip of Mauritius. Get here on foot from the quaint Pereybere village.
