Please note: This property is in a very quiet area and loud groups are not appropriate at this location. Please also note that the owner's very friendly and sweet Jack Russell dog may pay you a visit as he lives on the grounds, so for those with allergies or fears of dogs, this may not be the ideal stay for you.

Pulborough is nestled into the South Downs National Park just 5 miles from Petworth; 17 miles from Chichester and 9 miles from the historic town of Arundel in West Sussex. The coast is just 20-minutes away by car where you’ll find sandy beaches at Climping and Littlehampton, or the Rive Arun runs closer to home for fishing, canoeing and paddle boarding.
Within Pulborough itself there are some beautiful woodland and countryside walks which are signposted just a short walk from the house.
For lovers of fine wine, look no further than Nyetimber or Nutbourne vineyards where you can enjoy tours and tastings. Pair your wine with tender cuts of local meat or cheeses from Charlie’s Farm Shop in Fittleworth, all to be enjoyed at home for garden lunches or evening suppers.
Both Amberley Castle and Arundel Castle are open year-round for visitors and sit within a short drive of the house. Petworth House & Gardens or the Weald & Downland Living Museum at Singleton offer an equally beautiful and historic experience for all ages – all fewer than 10-miles away.
It is fairly essential to have a car in Pulborough as it is slightly tucked away from the main roads and stations. The nearest stations are in Pulborough and Arundel where you can call a local taxi to take you to the house. Castle Cars can also arrange to collect or take you to a nearby airport by prior arrangement.
Access to the property is via a smartlock system, giving convenience to arrive whenever suits you. Instructions will be sent 24 hours prior to your stay.
Nest Cottage is a semi-detached property set within the beautiful grounds of the owner's estate, grounds which become an extension of your property while offering picture-perfect views from every room. Inside, each space has been carefully curated with beautiful artworks, antiques and artefacts collected over many years which create a home full of character and style which impresses from the moment you step through the door.
Go exploring on several local walks, mapped out by the owner, taking you through ancient woodland, along river paths or seeking out a country pub. Nip into the village of Pulborough or the county towns of Petworth and Arundel which host an array of historic pubs, shops and attractions, or take in a vineyard tour and tasting at the award-winning Nutbourne and Nyetimber Estates.
Maybe, as many previous guests experienced; once you are here, you’ll not want to venture too far. The peace and luxury of your surroundings will allow you to fully recharge – you won’t want to leave.
You’ll pass through some of the most exquisite countryside as you drive through the South Downs National Park from either London or the South Coast. Winding roads flanked by lush hedgerows and mature trees guide you to where this house sits signposted up a private drive where there is parking for two cars beneath giant pines looking West across to the South Downs. From here, fairy lights guide your way down a footpath to the private garden and entrance to the property, and an elegant luggage wagon can assist with your suitcases.
While semi-detached, Nest Cottage feels completely independent and private within its own yew-encircled garden with an ornamental fish pond and fountain, so you can sit in blissful harmony, uninterrupted but for the tinkling of water and birdsong. Several seating areas and a firepit offer the perfect spaces from which to enjoy the Downland vista framed by mature, specimen trees and architectural planting – and with a westerly aspect, the sunsets are truly awe-inspiring. During the evening, garden lighting allows you to sit outside under the stars, hours after the sun has set over the hills.
Stepping inside, the generous open plan living room offers ample space for dining and relaxation. There is a flat screen TV and a DVD player which comes with a selection of all the best old-fashioned, feel-good movies for you to enjoy – or you may wish to simply unplug and curl up with a book – of which there are many to choose from. During the cooler seasons, you can light the open fire, for which there is a log store; adding warmth and atmosphere to wintery evenings and suppers.
The kitchenette is well-equipped with a microwave, hob, fridge, toaster and Nespresso machine should you need to whip up a delicious meal. Yet you will also be tempted to seek out some of the local foodie pubs and restaurants nearby. There is a good range of crockery, glassware, cutlery, cooking utensils and pans, plus tea, Nespresso coffee pods and milk will also be provided.
Fresh eggs from the owners chickens will be left for you on arrival, and there are options to purchase a luxury breakfast box or an afternoon tea box for an additional treat. Should you need anything in particular, please ask and we will make every effort to accommodate.
The epitome of luxury, the principal bedroom has a king size bed dressed in quality Egyptian cotton white linens. There is plenty of clothes and shoe storage, and the deep hybrid mattress with plump pillows will ensure a truly restful night’s sleep. Upon waking, you can enjoy the far-reaching views across the South Downs from your pillow – bliss!
Up a step through double doors, the beautifully appointed bathroom is adorned with fluffy towels and spoiling Ortigia Italian luxury bath products to ensure you have only loveliest creature comforts for your stay. Above the contemporary freestanding bathtub, a skylight allows you to stargaze or watch the clouds float by as you bathe in a sea of fragrant bubbles, and the wall mounted taps create comfortable bathing for two at either end.
Train: Pulborough has a railway station with direct services from London Victoria, Gatwick Airport, and other locations. Once you arrive in Pulborough, you will need to use local bus services or other modes of transportation to reach the property.
