Rincon Beach Tours and Activities

Rincon Beach showing tropical scenes and general coastal views

Frequently touted as one of the world’s best, this remote and immaculate white-sand beach is framed by palms and lush mountains.

One of the best beaches in the Caribbean, Playa Rincón is an unspoiled strip of white sand that stretches for about 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) along an undeveloped part of the coast. Fringed by a border of coconut palms and enclosed by mountain and cliff peaks at both ends, this secluded beach feels like a true utopia, cut off from civilization.

Arrive at the beach in the morning and stake out the best spot. The beach's difficult-to-access location ensures it is never overrun, so you shouldn’t have any trouble finding a suitable spot. If you plan on staying for the full day, bring along supplies, such as sunscreen, snacks and water, as there are very few amenities here. In the busier summer months, vendors often rent sun loungers and sell souvenirs, but it’s best to come prepared as these services can vary from week to week.

Lay out a towel and lie down on the fine sands. Walk the length of the beach to truly appreciate its beauty and bring along a camera to shoot the stunning capes, which rise dramatically at either end. At one end of the beach lies Caño Frio, a freshwater river that plunges down the steep mountain edge.

Head to the other end of the beach and step into the clear, warm waters. Here, there is a sheltered area that’s ideal for swimming. Consider renting or bringing along snorkeling gear to use here too as the marine life is colorful and plentiful.

Getting to Playa Rincón can be difficult due to the rocky, uneven road that leads here. Rent a jeep or a four-wheel drive to make the 11.5-mile (18.5-kilometer) journey from Las Galeras. Signposts will help you find the way. You can also ride on shared or private boats fromLas Galeras or hire a local guide to drive them there.
