"My wife liked this property more than I. The hotel was built in 1835 but has only been updated to circa 1960, and in some places, it shows. We were there off season and pool was empty which detracted from the overall look of the property. Big room was sparsely furnished but opened onto unforgettable deck overlooking Amalfi coast from a higher elevation than in town. So yes, the surroundings are spectacular but the hotel isn’t keeping up. Shuttle is wonderful (and necessary) as a way to get to...

"Easy to find, beautiful entry, great breakfast, and nice room. It was a little noisy when the terrace chairs were being moved. Maybe a sign up there to let people know that moving the chairs will disturb the rooms below. "

One month in the apartment

"For the most part the apartment was clean and the bed was comfortable. The apartment has plenty of storage. The entire building is under construction and lots of dirt from the outside gets inside. The noise from the construction starting at 7-8 am on most days was very disturbing. There were days that jack hammers were used right outside the door. In addition, the traffic and people talking outside the window sometimes until 1am, made it difficult to sleep. I had to wear ear plugs to fall asleep. The bathroom floods from poor drainage in the shower (would recommend a bathroom renovation). The kitchen is very small and basically has no counter space. Missing window privacy slats in the kitchen. The location of the apartment was good, close to train station and ferries for day trips. Good food in the area. I do recommend the area but would definitely find an apartment in a more quiet building. Also, stairs to go up to the apartment are steep and may not be suitable for everyone. "

"The hotel is in a historic building and the furnishings complemented the style perfectly. It was clean and the check-in process was seamless. One of my flights was delayed an hour and they contacted me to make sure everything was alright. I was traveling by myself so I truly appreciated this. The hotel is right across the street from the sea and the boardwalk. Vittoria was incredible. She went above and beyond as I flew in from the USA because my husband had motor scooter accident and was in the local hospital in the orthopedic trauma unit. She helped me get an ambulance for my husband to move from hospital to Airbnb, locate a hospital bed and coordinate the delivery, sent me links to restaurants and local sites among other things. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to stay in Salerno!"
