"Property is very characterful with great views. We very much liked the area being a little away from the main tourist zones but we like to walk. Hosts and staff all very lovely and helpful. We were two floors up via a metal exterior spiral staircase, we rather liked it and it is well mentioned in the advert but it would not be suitable for everyone. Mattress was rather hard and we did not get used to it after 2 weeks. Swimming pool is wonderful and if we are back in Funchal we would try and book...

The place is incredibly well stocked and great walking distance into the city itself. It was so nice to sit on the deck in the evenings that we were home to watch the sky change with the setting sun"

I could not contact the hotel via email or the Expedia app (quintabelasaotiago.com is not the domain name for the hotel email) prior to arrival. some of the front desk staff (Nadia) are excellent as is Sa in the restaurant but others are surly and disinterested. We asked to borrow an iron and were told at the front desk that we would have to pay - then it never turned up since the only way to get clothes ironed is to use the laundry service. "Close to Old town with corner shops, restaurants and tour booking office. Walkable from major bus routes. Breakfast is decent, continental with option of cheese and ham or scrambled egg. Accommodation is in the original house or another building across the road. No aircon or central heating but we didn't miss that during the shoulder season."
