Experience the family-friendly entertainment of a winter ski resort at Snowland Park. Regardless of the weather outside, soft powdery snow falls upon Snowland Park year-round. Inaugurated in 2013, the park is the first of its kind in South America. Join in the fun of racing down a mountain and relaxing in a charming village at this winter wonderland.
The Snow Mountain is the main area for sporting activities, where temperatures range from 23 F (-5 C) to 27 F (-3 C). Go skiing, snowboarding and tubing on the superbly groomed ski runs. Lessons are available for first-time skiers. Marvel at the fairytale Snow Castle and meet a Yeti. Attend a multimedia cinema and theater show to learn how the park operates.
Embrace the charm of the Alpine Village at its ice-skating rink, mountain pub and shops, which evoke the spirit of Christmas. Take a thrilling ride on a 7-D simulator and feel yourself skiing like a professional. In the excavation cave take souvenir photos that will make you appear to be frozen in a block of ice.
Get refreshments at the food court at the Bela Vista Lookout, which offers views of the ski slopes. Watch snowy adventures at the 7-D cinema. There’s also an amusement arcade that features a merry-go-round, bumper cars, ice-themed video games and a miniature maze.
The park is just a 15-minute drive west of Gramado’s town center. Pay a fee to use the on-site parking lot. Gramado is a mountain resort famous for its Swiss-style chalets and entertainment centers such as Hollywood Dream Cars Automobile Museum and Santa’s Village. Porto Alegre is a 2-hour drive to the south.
Snowland Park is open daily except Wednesdays and has an admission fee. It’s open on Wednesdays too in July and December. Additional fees apply for the rental of skiing and snowboarding equipment. Visit the park’s official website, which is in Portuguese only, for more information.
