"Been greated by the door men/concierge, checking in and been shown to your room was lovely and welcoming. All the staff are friendly and happy to have a conversation. Breakfast is very comprehensive and first class. The rooms are large ,well appointed and the bed very comfortable. Any issues are dealt with immediately to your satisfaction. The spa is just great and everything works properly. We would certainly go again and recommend it to anyone. "

"A super greeting and easy booking in system. A great vibe was around the hotel. In walking distance to all of Yorks attractions and nightlife. Breakfast had a great selection and variety, which ensured you were fuelled for any walking. Small gym room but held enough for a work out."

"Reception Staff was helpful and patient whilst dealing with a number of our party at the same time. The room in the coach house was quiet and adequate, and clean, though the bed was a bit too hard to say it was comfortable for me. Dining in the on-site pub was OK, staff courteous and helpful. Coped well with a full dining room. Breakfast in the hotel had limited choices of fresh fruit and although the hot buffet was OK the eggs had continued to cook under the heat lamps."

"Thoroughly enjoyable stay - staff were excellent throughout, only downside was I’d booked for the rooftop terrace, but when we got up the sides had been drawn down and we were not allowed to have our drinks outside - the reason given was that it was too cold, but we’d have been fine outside for the time we were staying so not sure whether that was just a bit of a premature closure. "My first trip to York, so wasn’t sure where would be best to stay but this place is perfect! Situated on Walmgate, I easily walked to all the places I wanted to see, usually in 5-10 minutes. The hotel is beautifully decorated, the staff are welcoming, professional and have great local knowledge, and my room was gorgeous, clean and very comfortable. Would happily stay there again if I’m back in York."
