Our reservations were cancelled by the hotel due to the hurricane. A message was sent through Expedia. However we have been unable to reach them by phone to confirm which is what is required according to the travel insurance agent. We cannot get a refund until we reach the hotel. It is a very frustrating situation. We are sorry we were not able to stay at this location. We may try again in the future. They indicated they would be closed indefinitely but we hope they are able to recover from the storm damage.

The beach and the main shared areas are well staffed, clean and pleasant. Our main issue was an AC that work well, bathroom ceiling had a leak, the tub was clogged and there some roaches in the room. There was a lack of attention to these details when it was mentioned to staff.

Catherine at the lobby bar and the Flying Bridge restaurant is amazing! Great personality, amazing customer service and wonderful person! She leads by example and treats all her customers with respect, kindness, and she is an extremely hard worker! She is amazing and Tradewinds is blessed to have a worker like this! Enjoyed the palm court restaurant, mini golf, high tide 3 story freestyle slide, zip line and most of all the pool games. Room was very accessible to both beach and pool and very easy walk to RumFish for s’mores. The elevator was slow at the part of the hotel I stayed in and would suggest them putting a little stair case next to elevator that goes to the 2nd floor. Very great time at hotel enjoyed it and would recommend to family and friends who want to spend a week or to on the beach.

Island Grand had a lot of pool space for my family to swim and the beachfront was awesome. The staff was friendly. There was only one main elevator working, the stairwells had a strong mildew odor and were not cleaned. My room also smelled of mildew and there was constant water on the bathroom floor( not from the toilet).

Beach, pools, waterslide and zip line were great for the kids. Only 1 working elevator for a large resort. The elevator was extremely slow so we walked 5 flights of stairs most of the time. On our 1st night the room across from us had a drunk person that was having a meltdown from 1:30-3:30 am. It was so bad they caused damage to their room. The resort never apologized or acknowledged the incident to us, even though we brought the issue to their attention.

Overall the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Property was nice, but could use updates. THREE problem areas: 1) had one of the primary elevators out of service the entire stay and two others that were working and not working sporadically leading to extremely long waits for an elevator. 2) had to wait 1 1/2 hours PAST check in for one of the three roooms & booked for the week - with not apologies or compensation for our trouble; also one of the three rooms had a jammed door that was neaerly impossible to open or close (it was a safety hazard and a physical hazard for us to use) After unsuccessful attempts to fix, we had to pack up and move rooms. 3) by far the worst, on one of the evenings we were dressed for family photos and a very nice dinner. It happened to be pouring rain at the time and the two elevators that when to the main bldg were both not working at the same time. We wanted to walk-thru the breezeway to avoid getting wet and were stopped by three hotel workers. One in particular was very rude, unprofessional and ultimately dismissive to me. I tried explaining what we were trying to do - he didn't want to hear it, turned his back to me and ignored me from that point on. When we finally figured out a way to make it to the lobby without getting wet (we had to figure it out for ourselves) I went to the front desk and asked to speak to the manager - only to find out that the person who had been so rude and disrespectful to me earlier was in the manager!

I liked that everything was right there. Beach was beautiful. I didn’t like the pool area. Main pool area was dirty, drains didn’t work and it smelled like sewer. I also didn’t like that you pay a daily resort fee, but still had to pay for so many amenities on the property. Everything you wanted to do cost extra, including if you wanted beach chairs or cabanas. Our TV didn’t work and AC went out. Maintenance fixed, but still it was annoying.
