Relax on a rocky beach, explore scenic walking trails and watch windsurfers ride the waves of Georgian Bay.

Enjoy a day of fun and recreation at one of Collingwood's most popular locations, the waterfront Sunset Point Park. Set off on coastal walks, go kitesurfing and windsurfing and take in sunset views over Lake Huron. The large park encompasses a beach, playground, part of the Collingwood trail system and picnic areas.

When there are strong winds, make your way to the rocky Sunset Point Beach to watch windsurfers and kite surfers in action. Bring your own boards and get out and join them on the waves. On warm summer days, swim in the lake’s waters. There are no lifeguards here so visitors should swim with caution. Visit the beach in the evening for views of the setting sun.

If you are feeling energetic, stretch your legs along part of the 37-mile (60-kilometer) long Collingwood Trails Network that winds through the park. The footpaths connect major Collingwood attractions and are popular with walkers, joggers and cyclists. Stop by the large inukshuk, a stone monument dedicated to a local man who perished in a boating accident. During the winter, cross-country ski or snowshoe along the trails. Collect a trail map at various downtown locations, including the Collingwood Museum and the town hall.

Be sure to check out the EnviroPark, a family-friendly recreational and educational area. This interactive playground is a miniature Collingwood with models of a water treatment park, water tower and other structures. It is designed to show how water is treated and used.

Roll out a rug for a picnic on one of the expansive lawns or dine at a picnic table.

Sunset Point Park is about a 15-minute walk from downtown Collingwood. Those arriving by car will find two free parking lots and free street parking. Facilities include a snack bar and washrooms. Sunset Point Park, the beach, trails and EnviroPark are free and accessible year-round. Remember, winter snowfall can make some areas inaccessible.
