A good hotel in a small town close to stunning scenery, including the Douro river valley which is within easy reach by car. Many scenic routes twisting and turning through the mountains, with tiny village houses clinging to the mountainside. I stopped my car to take photos of the morning mist filling the valley floor, with the mountains rising high above. There are monasteries and convents to visit, all centuries old. There is a safe in the room, but otherwise the room is spartan and basic - for example no rugs on the floor in the bedroom. Breakfast is fine with a good choice of food. The female staff were friendly and welcoming, only the male receptionist in his 40s wasn't terribly friendly.

Good value for money hotel in Douro wine region. Little town from where you can discover the surrounding hills, viewpoints and Douro. Rooms were clean, decent and had proper bathroom.

An unexpected find
The Douro Inn was an unexpected find way up in the hills above the Douro Valley. The room was large the bathroom clean and also spacious. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good. My only criticism would be the lack of a lift. Our room was on the second floor and there were a lot of stairs. For a hotel of that size I would have expected a lift.

Great place to stay. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I went with a group of friends. One of our friends didn’t have a room and they called around other hotels and found a room locally. Also recommended a great area restaurant and when we checked out we left a phone charger in the room and they came outside to bring it to us. Definitely will stay here and recommend it to others. The place and the staff made it a wonderful stay.

Pictures online misrepresent this property. Terrible location, dirty, unkempt, noisy Main Street. No one at reception for 2PM check. My photos represent what it really looks like.

The breakfast was good. When they know when people are coming they should leave the AC on…it run the whole night and even so the room didn’t get cool. Otherwise our stay was good.

We arrived on September 28 and there was a huge concert just outside hotel. Literally 2 meters away. The hotel room was actually vibrating. The hotel manager was absolutely indifferent and rude. We abounded the hotel and left. Really hope that Hotel.com will remedy this situation for us. Also drive to the hotel was not for faint hearted. Very step in the mountains

Nice clean comfortable room, friendly helpful staff, good breakfast. Didn’t use the restaurant for dinner as it looked rather large and empty, not cosy for dinner. Liked having a balcony and being able to sit outside.

Wonderful hotel. The room is big and very comfortable. Breakfast is great. The common areas are so beautiful. Parking lot in front of hotel, small but ok. The clerk is very kind. The place around is extremely beautiful - nature, florests, wine and food. All perfect.

Hotel is a good location in interesting small town. Everywhere was quiet because late in the year. Main problem was breakfast when we and another customer had to wake the staff at 8:15 who then prepared poor breakfast. Would have been better to go to the local cake shop.

Nice hotel in the mountains near the Durro valley
We found this a great base to explore the lovely location. The staff were really friendly, recommending restaurants to use in the evening - there are only a couple of restaurants in the village. Secure parking was available at no additional cost, but we didn't feel this was required in this village. The staff doubled as bar and reception but as it was quiet when we were there this wasn't a problem

The staff went above and beyond to be helpful. Te' restaurant, a short walk is truly a very special treat. Near several great wineries and the drive up the mountain is spectacular.

A good place to see if you like grapes
Although, overall, we enjoyed the hotel because it was relatively new and the price was right for the three of us, it had a couple of drawbacks -- the smell of tobacco smoke throughout the lobby and dining room was really bad; the room we had was for 3 adults and was just too small. Breakfast was good, with a good and plentiful variety. Overall, I would rate this hotel at a 6 out of 10.

Hotel Douro Inn is a very nice hotel in a small quiet town in the Douro wine region, Taubuaco. It has a nice restaurant and good location. The overall experience is good.
