Great cottage
Cleanest stay ever and everything you need. We were disappointed we couldn’t walk to the pub at night as it’s just too dangerous with narrow busy road and no footpath, other than that brilliant. Thank you

Woodside Cottage
Nicely decorated, quaint cottage. There is everything you need for a comfortable stay. Lots of lovely walks nearby and the Bobbin Mill is definitely worth a visit. The spa that features heavily in its marketing is quite a drive away and pretty dated. We only went once and it isn’t really a great addition to the property. No pubs or restaurants in very easy walking distance as you have to walk on the roads. Lots of instructions and rules taped up on the walls.

Lakeside staycation
Arrived to a spotless cottage, which was cosy, well equipped and as described, slight problem with access but a quick phone call to owners and back up plan was in place to avoid any delay to entry, great communication with owners from booking to departing. Location made access to beautiful walks easy, took part in paddle boarding and kyaking at Bowness on Windermere, also gorge scrambling at Coniston, two really good fun days out. We all had a great staycation, thank you.

Post lockdown at Woodside Cottage
We found the property very well equipped for everything we needed. It was very clean and comfortable. We think they prepared the cottage very well as they had all the extra rules of Covid to deal with. Brian and Alison have left plenty of ideas for local walks and amenities and they left us a lovely welcome basket. Very food place to stay.

It is warm and comfortable and it is spacious, yet cosy. You literally relax and start enjoying from the moment you enter. A great location for walks and near by pubs. Really special. Thank you.

Beautiful area
From the description I thought this cottage was private but in fact it is in a row of cottages, and other houses surrounding it. There is an area at the back of the cottage where you park your cars that has a patio with table and chairs, but in October it didnt get the sun. When you walk out of the front door there is a paved strip that goes along the outside of the house and joins two other cottages, its wide enough to put a couple of benches on (but this isnt allowed). You then have a gravel area which is about two car widths which you cross to get to the very overgrown area of the garden. Next door cottage has a strip of garden too that is a bit more open. The night before we went I got information that said we were not to put chairs outside of the front door and sit there as the cottage did not own this land and there had been complaints if holiday makers did this. It was a shame because this area of the cottage got the sun during the day and it would have been nice to be able to sit somewhere in the sun. There were as far as we could make out 6 houses/cottages in this complex, with the gravel area in front of our cottage being the drive way to a couple of houses. Inside the cottage it was brilliant, everywhere was very clean, the beds were comfortable and the showers excellent. It also has a downstairs toilet which was very useful. The kitchen was well equipped and the oven and hob were excellent. The internet speed was the best yet in a rented cottage. It did smell a bit of dogs in the front room when we had the log fire lit. The sofas were comfortable for 4 of us. The telly was a good size too, with Sky available. They provided two logs for the first evening and kindling. The area is amazing, and we all enjoyed our walks especially to the water falls. I loved the cottage inside, but was really disappointed about the outside.

Lovely family break in beautiful cottage
Wanted to spend some time with family, grandparents and dog and chose this cottage for its cosy description with wood burning stove, location near our favourite places in the Lakes and great reviews. We weren’t disappointed and loved beautiful walks in nearby vicinity, coffee shops and wood burning stove in the evenings. Brian and Alison very attentive hosts and provided lots of information. Love this place, especially the beautifully decorated bedrooms, and the 2 showers are excellent. Thank you for a wonderful holiday!

Lovely peaceful week.
Woodside Cottage is cosy and very comfortable with plenty of room for six of us and a dog. There is everything you would need in the kitchen and lots of books and games for the children and a wealth of information on the area. We did many of the local walks (the dog was walked to High Dam morning and evening and we felt she made it her own). We scrambled up to Gummer’s How and up Hoad Hill in Ulverston and walked the canal there. Bowness, Ambleside, Hawkshead and many more places - lots of suggestions for local walks in the cottage. Beds were extremely comfortable and we all slept very well. Everything was clean and to a high standard and Alison and Brian were very helpful. We would recommend Woodside Cottage and the beautiful countryside around it.

Beautiful homely cottage
The cottage is a lovely place, with more than enough room for six people and everything you need inside. It's very cosy and homely. Check in and out is extremely straightforward, and Brian and Alison contacted to ensure everything was going smoothly (it was). They also provided plenty of information on things to do and places nearby, which is a very nice touch. We enjoyed a lovely stay in the Lake District and this place made it all the more comfortable. Very warm and comfortable cottage near Lakeside on Windermere.
Brian & Alison keep a lovely holiday cottage with everything you could need; loads of helpful information about where to go and what to see, great arrival instructions, & beautifully appointed. The log burner made it even cosier as did the welcome tea tray. We used the cottage as a base to explore the southern Lake District, walking at Helvellyn, Scafel Pike and Hard Knott Pass, the western shore of Windermere, and Coniston including the Tarn Hows. We very much enjoyed your selection of games (Read my Lips caused much hilarity!) as we spent most evenings in, although we did eat out at the Swan at Newby Bridge and the Cuckoo Brow Inn in Far Sawry, both very enjoyable. Thank you for a great stay. We’ll be back another time with so much more to explore.

Excellent property in great location
We had an excellent time at Woodside cottage. The cottage is well appointed and in very good condition. Six of us stayed in the cottage including two children and everyone had enough space. We used the cottage as a base to explore the area; even though we were there for a week we really only touched the tip of the iceberg in terms of things to do. We appreciated being close to places but not in them and did not feel there was too much traffic for example where we were. Brian and Alison Smith of Woodside Cottage Lakes were very helpful to make sure that everything was in order and that our stay went smoothly. We certainly would come back next time we come to the Lake District.
