Experience the delights that science has to offer at Gothenburg’s Universeum. Wander through an indoor rain forest, feed sharks in a huge aquarium or take a close look at some of the world’s most dangerous reptiles. Adults and children alike will find hours of entertainment playing with lie detectors and walking tightropes, among other interactive exhibits.
The enormous Universeum covers seven floors. Established in 2001, it incorporates the latest technologies and scientific discoveries into its playful exhibits.
Begin in Ocean World where you’ll see colourful fish, tiger sharks and moray eels. A special tank allows visitors to stroke the backs of giant rays. Check the feeding schedule and see sharks snapping up their meals. Experience a rapid change of scenery in the climate-controlled indoor rain forest. Look out for real animals in the trees, including sloths, monkeys and birds.
Learn about life beyond the Earth’s surface in the Space Zone. Experience life in an international space station and work out how to complete everyday tasks in zero gravity, such as using the toilet and sleeping.
Develop the skills of a detective in the Crime Lab. See state-of-the-art investigation and forensic techniques. Kids will love testing themselves on lie detectors and trying to identify forged banknotes.
Move on to the Velcro wall, where you can challenge your friends to see who can climb the highest.
Young children can use their imaginations in Job Land and live their dream jobs as firemen, veterinarians or even truck drivers.
Stop for lunch at one of several food outlets provided. With on-site dining options, and the Liseberg Amusement Park nearby, you can easily plan an uninterrupted day of fun in this area.
The Universeum charges an admission fee but offers discounts for groups and children under the age of 17. Access this entertainment centre by tram or bus to Korsvägen. Alternatively, you can get here on foot from the city centre. Drivers can find parking nearby for a fee.The museum is open every day of the year.
