Appreciate a sophisticated performance under the dazzling lights of this intriguing auditorium that seems to stand in the middle of nowhere.

Owned by the University of Texas, the Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center is a large concert hall with an interesting design. It has brown, sloping exterior walls and an array of windows that differ in size and shape. Attend a theatrical performance or musical event in the main concert hall.

Choose from the eclectic range of musical concerts, dance shows and dramatic performances. Past performers have included Tony Bennett and Harry Connick Jr. The principal hall has 1,827 seats, while the cozier Rea-Greathouse Hall contains just 192. Note that the site also has a music department that belongs to the University of Texas.

Chat with some of the friendly staff about past and future performers. Enjoy a few drinks and snacks from the concert hall’s bar. See the complex from afar at night, when it is illuminated in golden light. It appears to sprout from the arid heart of the Texan desert.

Appreciate the excellent acoustics and comfortable seats in the main auditorium. Gaze up at the black ceiling, which is decorated by white lights that represent the Texan night sky. In addition to more traditional shows, illusionists, lecturers and stand-up comedians also perform in this space.

Decide between the seats in the dress circle, the balcony and the orchestra section. Book tickets via the center’s official website, which also provides the box office phone number. The schedule is varied, with shows taking place in the morning and evening.

The Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center is beside the Midland International Air and Space Port in western Texas. It is about 11 miles (17 kilometers) west of Midland and 12 miles (19 kilometers) east of Odessa. Visit other attractions in the region, including the Nueva Vista Golf Club and the University of Texas of the Permian Basin.
