Experience fun and relaxation on Agios Fokas Beach, a picturesque stretch of coastline with a mixture of black and white sand and pebbles. Its close proximity to Kos Town, watersports and clear water, make it one of the most popular beaches on the island.
Take advantage of the beach’s watersports school to get active on and under the water. In addition to equipment rental, lessons are available for all ability levels for a variety of aquatic pursuits. They include snorkeling, scuba diving and windsurfing. Owing to the good waves at Agios Fokas, the beach is popular with surfers.
For some physical pursuits on dry land, make your way over to Agios Fokas Beach Club where there are beach volley and beach tennis courts, Pilates classes and exercise training in the sea. There is also a children's playground and a diving school. If any of this sounds too energetic for you, simply rent a sunbed and unwind under the hot sun.
For even more relaxation, visit the nearby beach of Thermes, where there are sea pools with hot water springs. The mineral content is high and some people claim the water has therapeutic properties. Due to the proximity of the springs, the sea here is noted for its warmth. You can also rent sunbeds and parasols if you want to do a little more sunbathing. Thermes is approximately 1.2 miles (2 kilometres) from Agios Fokas and there is a bus service between the two locations. Alternatively, walk, take a taxi or drive.
Come back to Agios Fokas to dine on fresh fish and traditional Greek cuisine in one of the beachfront restaurants. If you want to stay in the area for longer than a day, choose from the selection of hotels.
Agios Fokas is approximately 5 miles (8 kilometres) away from Kos Town. There are several ways to get here from the capital, including buses, rental car and taxis.
