"A lovely guy helped me with my luggage up the the 3rd floor. The room was lovely, but the shower gel didn't work (the press at the top wouldn't press down) The lock on the toilet door was also broken, and the hairdryer didn't work. Maybe check everything is working before putting guests in them?"

"We had to walk down several corridors and up and down stairs to access our room — if you have mobility issues I would advise confirming what is required when assigned your room. Spa bath was pleasant, but spa services seemed overpriced and I had difficulty getting them to share the price list ahead of time. "Staff were so friendly and breakfast was lovely - we thought it was a bit much to have to preorder day before but it actually meant a quick, efficient service. And breakfast room very pleasant - bright and warm. The room was quiet and comfortable but a bit overpriced at nearly £100 without breakfast - everything is a bit work out. Chipped paint, old furniture, threadbare bed base. Shower was great though. "

"It is a lovely hotel and we've stayed before. We had booked a four poster room but didn't get the same quality of room we had gotten in our first visit, by that I mean; there was no bathtub, the room was slightly smaller, the noise from outside was significantly louder than expected. We had a lovely stay though and I definitely recommend it."

"It’s a good hostel for a short stay, the showers seem to be brand new and the place is quite clean. There was a really weird smell in my dorm though (it was a mixed dorm) and some people were REALLY noisy. One of them would pace back and forth between the bunks in the morning, which was bizarre. Some had had too much to drink and others seemed quite hostile. As if other people had it easier than them… Just because people don’t complain it doesn’t mean they have a cushy life. One of my gripes...

"We had a great stay. Our dinner was excellent & we couldn’t fault a thing. Our room was in the annexe and was lovely, clean & a good size. The main house is full of interest art, photos & antiques. Only negative was the damp/fousty smell in the entrance & lounges. This wouldn’t stop us returning which we definitely will do!"
