Learn about Busan’s fascinating history at the impressive Busan Museum. Spread over three floors, it takes visitors on a journey through the ages. It is fundamental in preserving the traditional cultural heritage of the city.

The museum was first opened in 1978 and was fully remodeled in 2002. Explore its seven exhibition rooms, as well as the Kiln Exhibition Hall and the Outdoor Exhibition Hall. Discover a wide range of artifacts, which include pieces from prehistoric times through to the modern period. The exhibits have been collected through excavation efforts, donations and research. There are some 32,000 objects on display.

Enter the Dongnae Exhibition Hall to find artifacts from the prehistoric periods. The Busan Exhibition Hall, however, is home to spaces such as the Busan Folk Room, the Living and Culture Room and the Korea-Japan Relationship Room.

Find displays covering all aspects of Busan’s colorful past in the Culture Experience Hall. This section of the museum offers a variety of unique and interesting ways to learn about history through your own practical experience. Interact with fun hands-on exhibits that let you touch relics, learn about erecting a stone pagoda and try your hand at folk crafts. Get insight into the traditional costumes of the Busan area. Learn all about the special art of the tea ceremony at the display dedicated to this traditional South Korean custom

After perusing the indoor exhibits, head to the Outdoor Exhibition Hall. Discover the beautiful pagodas, Buddhist statues and dozens of stone monuments housed here.

Busan Museum is easily accessible by public transportation from any of Busan’s central areas. Admission to the museum is free for people of all ages. Come any day except Monday, when the museum is closed. Spend a whole morning or afternoon here and take advantage of the visitor facilities, which include a snack bar and a gift store.
