An enchanting Carmel-by-the-Sea cottage with terraced patios and garden areas. Fully renovated and enhanced in Old World style but with all the modern convenience, this 4-bedroom, 3-bath home offers a beautiful setting.

This spacious property offers peace and privacy, yet is close to everything that is best about this area: a 5-minute walk to shopping and dining in downtown Carmel and to the Sunset Center; easy access to the beach, the Mission; and only a few minutes’ walk from the renowned outdoor Forest Theater, home of the annual Carmel Shakespeare Festival.

10 minutes by car to golf and sightseeing in Pebble Beach, vintage Victorian homes and monarch butterflies in Pacific Grove, historic Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and nearby wine tasting in Carmel Valley.

A sophisticated rustic ambiance greets visitors entering the beautifully decorated 2,100-square-foot residence, with hardwood floors, rich plaster walls and high open-beam ceilings, and original photography and art. Renovated by acclaimed master builder Al Saroyan, no detail was overlooked - the home retains the cottage style charm that is characteristic of Carmel while adding quality craftsmanship, space and functionality.

A mature garden frames the flagstone walkway to the front door, opening to the living room, which features luxurious velvet sectional seating around a gas fireplace with Carmel stone surround--the perfect place to gather for conversation, games or viewing the 50-inch HDTV.

An adjacent dining area with seating for eight around a round wooden table looks out on the garden and patio outside. French doors from the family room open onto a brick patio with seating for four, a gas grill, along with a stunning outdoor fireplace--an ideal spot for afternoon barbecues or to enjoy an evening cocktail.

The kitchen features tile countertops, alder wood cabinetry, a four-burner Viking gas range with hood, a deep sink with pull-out faucet, and counter seating for two. A sound system throughout the entire home is controlled from the pantry.

The kitchen area opens into the family room, which also has a unique Carmel stone gas fireplace, 55-inch HDTV, comfortable seating, and access to a long back deck with a stairway leading to the beautifully landscaped fenced yard, with a magnolia tree, live oaks, and a patio with seating. Well-equipped for extended stays!

Bedrooms and Bathrooms
Downstairs, tucked away from the living areas and other bedrooms is Bedroom #1, a large bedroom suite that has a California king bed, garden view, en-suite bathroom and a door to the brick patio and garden.

Upstairs, Bedroom #2 is another suite with a California king bed with an upholstered headboard and luxury bedding in tones of amethyst, dark gray and cream. The en suite bath has a shower.

Bedroom #3 - Queen bed and is next to a hallway bathroom with a custom tiled tub/shower combination.

A small room with a bay window at the front of the house can be used as either an office or Bedroom #4, with a desk and twin day bed.

Also on the lower level is a wine cellar closet and a laundry room with washer and dryer.

Parking for 1 vehicle in the driveway; additional street parking in front of the home.

Well-behaved small dogs are welcome with pre-approval, an additional pet fee and a signed pet addendum.

This home is a monthly rental and we request that all nights of your stay are within the same calendar month. Some exceptions may be possible, with the approval of our team and the homeowner. Well-equipped for extended stays!

What an incredibly comfortable house with a great location. Walking into town was a breeze (a very hilly breeze, but enjoyable none the less) and Mission Trail was just steps away for great dog hikes. For the pet crowd, the house is perfect for dogs with safely enclosed front and back yards. The house was spotless and very welcoming when we arrived. Kitchen is fully equipped for serious cooks, towels all matched, and linens were fresh and well-chosen. Sanctuary Vacation Rentals were so responsive to any problems we had and they are extremely organized with how-to instructions and pertinent information that made the stay so smooth. The house is just a gem, the neighborhood is almost spooky quiet, and the proximity to trails and town makes for such relaxing and fun stay. Hope to come again soon.

We enjoyed the house and the location very much. We would definitely return. One thing to note, the property management company was very slow to respond to a few issues we had, however, eventually things were resolved. Overall, a wonderful stay.

We had a wonderful time - daily walks to the beach! Love the home and especially the fireplace - very cozy ! One comment - the neighbor - northside - was very very noisy - their garage door went up and down in the middle of the night - it woke everyone up - not good! We tried to reach them but no one answered the door - I rated location low bc of this noise
