“Shake it up, Baby!” at the cradle of British pop music, where legendary groups like the Beatles, The Rolling Stones and The Kinks have all graced the stage.

Step inside the iconic Cavern Club where Liverpool’s favourite sons, the Beatles, honed their craft. Enjoy a performance from one of the many international acts that play here throughout the year and enjoy the wealth of music memorabilia on the walls.

Originally opened in 1957, the club was played by the Beatles on 292 occasions between 1961 and 1963. The list of performers also includes Elton John, The Kinks and Arctic Monkeys. The club was closed when an underground railway was being built and moved across the street in 1976. The top section was demolished to ground level however the original cellar was not destroyed and re-opened years later and remains one of Liverpool’s most iconic attractions.

Enjoy great live music at the area of the club known as the Front Stage. Here you can watch live acts every evening, with some of the U.K.’s finest bands regularly on the bill. It’s a popular place so booking is recommended. If it’s booked out, head to the Cavern Pub opposite, where you can watch cover bands paying homage to some of the greats who have graced the club over the years. The Cavern Pub also serves food, so enjoy a meal before dancing the night away to some classic rock and Britpop.

Visit during the day and you can take your time browsing the huge array of music memorabilia. Look for pictures of your favourite artists on the Wall of Fame and read the list of famous acts that have played here over the years. In the souvenir shop you can buy a huge range of unique memorabilia and music.

The club is centrally located in the city close to Albert Dock and can be visited easily using public transport. It is a short walk from both Lime Street Station and James Street Station and is just minutes from Liverpool ONE Bus Station. Ticket prices for concerts vary, but admission is generally free during the day.
