The Hanalei Valley Lookout is one of Hawaii’s most iconic vistas. The panorama features the waterfalls and dramatic mountains that surround a lush, green valley with fields of taro, flanked by the Hanalei River. See mist and localized showers casting rainbows across the blue sky on sunny days.

Much of the poi that is produced and sold in Hawaii comes from this vast and scenic valley. It is a traditional Hawaiian dish with a pale purple color and is often served with salmon or salted fish.

The Hanalei Valley Lookout is in the southeastern part of Princeville on Kauai Island’s northern coast. It is a little north of the Hanalei National Wildlife Refuge. Leave your car in one of the designated spaces of the small adjacent parking lot. Visit nearby sights, such as the Hanalei Bridge, the Princeville Shopping Center and the Makai Golf Club.
