Jurong Bird Park Tours and Activities

Australian lorikeets, big-beaked toucans and deadly birds of prey are among the 380 species in Jurong Bird Park. In total, there are 5,000 birds here, including 29 protected endangered species, making it one of the largest parks of its kind on Earth. Opened in 1971, the park provides a serene change of scenery from city life, while simultaneously emphasising the importance of preservation and ecology to its many visitors.

Children will love the tram which begins the tour, and which is guided by the driver, who provides an informative introduction to the park. After disembarking, you then walk through the busy aviaries.

You will find yourself strolling through a series of compounds with habitats similar to those from which the birds originated. Nine-storey Lory Loft offers the opportunity to feed the lorikeets with a handful of nectar from the high walkways – these cheeky birds flock to the outstretched food, a wonderful experience for young and old.

The African Waterfall Aviary contains a 30-metre waterfall, plunging through this habitat full of the a huge array of feathered friends originating in that continent.

High-spirited penguins enjoy their water environment on the Penguin Coast, and they can be fed during one of the daily Penguin Encounter sessions. Soaring predatory hawks, eagles and falcons speed around the King of the Skies, in an altogether more thrilling part of the park.

Jurong Bird Park is in Jurong, a half hour drive west from central Singapore, and there is a large amount of pay parking available. Buses are also available. Open every day, with a reasonable entry fee.
