Blending an amusement park with extensive gardens and wildlife, Kasai Rinkai Park is an exceptional attraction on the southern cape of the Edogawa Ward. Its dense vegetation, green lawns and sandy beaches provide a welcome change from the rest of the city center. Bring your family to experience the great variety of activities and treats gracing this park.
One highlight is the Diamond and Flowers Ferris Wheel, which puts on mesmerizing light shows that earn the attraction its name. From the peak, snap photos of a wonderful vista incorporating much of Tokyo. At a height of 383 feet (117 meters), it is thought to be Japan’s second-tallest wheel. On a clear day, see Mt. Fuji in the distance, as well as the nearer districts of Tokyo Bay, Yokohama and Chiba.
A perfect rainy-day option for the whole family is the park’s Tokyo Sea Life Park. Stroll through the viewing tunnel that passes through the core of the main tank. Watch sharks and other underwater creatures appear to swim right past your head. Marvel at the adorable penguins and the eclectic range of colorful aquatic life on display.
Outside, wander through the wetlands of the Sea Bird Sanctuary and spot the puffins and auks. Relax on the observation deck of the Crystal View Building and admire the structure’s modern design.
The site was first opened in 1989, having been constructed on land reclaimed from the riverbed. The park’s various attractions follow their own individual opening hours. Pay a fee to ride on the Ferris wheel, which opens daily from morning until evening.
Kasai Rinkai Park stands beside Tokyo Disneyland on the southern shore of the Edogawa Ward. It is served by the Kasai-Rinkai-Koen station on the Keiyo Line. Arrive by water bus from the districts of Odaiba and Ryogoku. Visit some of the other nearby sights, such as Kasai Beach Park, Great Triangle Park and the Lotte Kasai Golf Course.
