Our recent stay at The Kinsley was one of the most inhospitable we've experienced. If you decide not to read the rest of this review: spend your money elsewhere, where you won't be overcharged for basic hotel amenities and then ignored or gaslit if you raise issues with management.
It was our first trip with our baby, and we were booked for two nights in The Kinsley's Pearl St. property two blocks away from the main building. We were not advised upon check-in that the building was walk-up only (management informed us that this information is readily available on the website, which is true but in the fine print and refers only to second- and third-floor rooms. We had no way of knowing which floor we would be staying on). No one offered to help us with our bags up the stairs.
After settling in, we encountered multiple issues. The hot water ran out after a 5-minute shower, so we were unable to give our baby a bath. The thermostat in our room was broken, and we could not adjust the temperature which was very hot. One of the sinks had a stopper that wouldn't un-stop so was half-filled and unusable all evening. There was no complimentary tea- or coffee-maker in the room. We were also informed that there was no room service in the building. Given the multitude of issues and the price we paid for the room, we decided not to stay the second night and requested a refund for the night; I have never encountered a hotel management team with such little empathy for their guests!
