"Went there for my daughter’s 9th birthday.
The staff made a big deal about her while she was there and made it extra special for her, particularly Hannah in the Piccolo restaurant and Danielle in the Brasserie."
"The service was excellent and we felt very welcomed. While the room was relatively basic, we have everything we need for our stay, including a good selection of coffee and tea. The view of the lake and the surrounding area was spectacular. "
"A night in a tent in a garden for £140 is a bit expensive specially for the quality of it.
Floor uneven and cracked, and smelt a bit dump.
Bathroom (in main house) is a bad design and water goes everywhere.
We wanted to ask the owner questions, while they were in their private room, and as soon as we tried to get their attention, they went quiet and ignored us. They must have been able to hear me.
I found it rude."
"It is a beautiful 17th century building, quirky and old. Maybe because it is out of high season, they had a very limited selection of food and drink and it just felt like we were too much trouble? The fan in the bathroom was really noisy which is a problem for late night needs and the mattress was super soft and lumpy!"

"I liked it. Older, needs a facelift, some clean up, some kind of dressing up externally, but part of its appeal is its age so what's best to do...I'm not sure. Enjoyed my time there. I recommend it. "

"My son and I spent one night here on May 2, 2025. It was an exhausting day because we were lied to and ripped off by Europcar. We couldn’t get any roadside assistance even though we paid extra for it Upon arrival at the Luib, we were met with understanding and caring. They have a small staff and a tough job. The owners are very successful people and have owned a number of businesses in Europe and now live in their hometown. I bonded with them and staff immediately. Some reviewers are upset that they were denied bathroom amenities. Sadly, I can see how some entitled people treat the Luib like it’s a public rest stop with free public amenities. That happens to them constantly. The Luib has so much character inside that you really do need to stop here. If not staying the night, go there in the evening for drinks, conversation and atmosphere. I was shown genuine kindness by the owners and hope to see them again next year. We were very satisfied with our stay and the ambience was priceless. Highly recommend."
"What a lovely hotel! Staff very friendly and professional, meals were amazing!
Cleanliness of high standard. Gardens so well kept. We are so glad we found this hotel and certainly will be back! "
