"I stayed with friends and chose the Lion in Shrewsbury for the history and authenticity of staying in an original listed hotel. Our rooms were decorated nicely although the curtains in one room were tired. It must take alot to maintain a large hotel like the Lion. Bathroom not modern but clean with lovely white towels and toiletries and hot shower. All the staff were lovely, breakfast really good. Nothing was too much trouble. Its definitely not a glitzy hotel but the originality of the building...

"I loved staying here with my son. The owners and staff went over and above all expectations to accommodate my neurospicy son. The building is honestly amazing, the renovations bringing the charm of the original architecture through. The bar and grill areas are welcoming, chilled and very laid back. "The stay was OK. This is definitely designed as a business hotel with extras. Also there were no local facilities so if you needed anything you had to drive. The fixtures and fittings were reasonable but dated. The view was a brick wall. For a family stay ok but definitely a business hotel."
