I recently stayed at The New Gardena Hotel, and while the overall establishment was good, my experience was marred by a few significant issues that I feel compelled to share.
Upon my arrival, I was surprised to be asked for my credit card at the front desk, despite having paid for my room online through Expedia. The hotel representative informed me that they would be placing a hold for additional funds for insurance purposes. This additional charge was not disclosed in the Expedia listing, which I found to be quite disappointing. Transparency is key when it comes to booking accommodations, and I believe it’s imperative that hotels clearly communicate any additional fees to guests in advance.
Furthermore, I noticed that the hotel seemed to fall short in providing basic amenities. The toiletry services were limited, particularly in terms of towels and washcloths. I found myself having to request these items rather than having them readily available in the room. The situation was compounded by the absence of an iron and ironing board, which I also had to request and then go to the front desk to retrieve. As a paying guest, it felt quite distasteful to have to leave my room for such basic accommodations. It’s these small details that can make a stay truly comfortable, and I was left feeling inconvenienced by the lack of attention to these essentials.
