I would only recommend staying on the QM for those that are familiar with her past or ship enthusiasts. Unlike a traditional hotel, the property has very few lounges or areas to sit back and relax. There are several restaurants and the magnificent Observation Bar, but that was very busy and intimidating to enter as a solo traveler. Would loved to see an area, maybe one of the old lounges, where I could have ordered some wine, sit in some big sofas, and enjoy the history of the ship. That said, I did enjoy my stay aboard, but think there is a lot that can be done to improve the onboard experience. A big plus is the regular Passport shuttle bus service from the Queen Mary to downtown Long Beach. Buses are free and run almost every 30 minutes.

Always love staying on the Queen Mary! Very unique, plenty to do and great staff! This visit however, all of the parking lots were blocked, couldn’t get near the hotel entrance and had to walk quite a ways with all our luggage before a cart driver found us to help. Just difficult as our party has one with mobility issues.
