Discover the bohemian flair and artisanal items in the market stalls that stretch across a street with a history entwined with frogs.

Los Sapos Bazaar is the cultural cornerstone of Puebla’s colorful and lively Sapos Alley. The market stalls sell all manner of items, with a focus on antiques and period furniture. Barter with the vendors over their intriguing and old-fashioned items in this charming market.

Explore the various stalls and examine the range of antiques on display. Take a closer look at the ceramics and try to find hidden treasures, such as impressive works of art and jewelry. Peruse the piles of old books and toys that might interest your children.

Purchase gifts and souvenirs for your friends back home. Find old magazines, coins and photos among the arrays of material. Along with the weekend stalls, locally owned shops and restaurants line the street.

Enjoy the dynamic and bustling atmosphere on this alley, which is among the city’s defining hotspots. Snap photos of your favorite artisanal pieces and chat with the locals for a sense of their culture. The colorful façades of the quaint, colonial buildings that flank the alley provide picturesque photo backdrops.

The name of the alley is Spanish for frogs, in reference to an era when rains caused the San Francisco River to flood the street, bringing the amphibians here in great numbers.

Note that the flea market opens on weekend mornings, when the alley comes alive for the day. Relax at a café or restaurant nearby and listen to live Mexican music on Friday or Saturday evenings. The street is fairly laid-back the rest of the week. Visit the market for free and bargain with vendors to get great prices for antiques.

Find Los Sapos Bazaar on Sapos Alley in the central part of Puebla. Ride a bus to the adjacent boulevard and get around this quaint area on foot. Visit some of the nearby attractions, such as Amparo Museum, Analco Park and the central Zócalo plaza.
