"Our hosts were great. They upgraded us to a bigger room as they had the space. The food was really good and plenty of it at fantastic prices. Our room had an electric fire which was very useful as the weather was cold for June. Overall it was an old quirky character full property with really friendly owners. No breakfast lunches or evening meals despite notices outside saying hotel has a restaurant. It doesn’t. Nevertheless it offers reasonable comfortable sleeping accommodation and there are cafe’s & restaurants within a short distance. "

"We enjoyed many facets of our stay at the Lister Arms in early May. The sights and walks are stupendous--there are steep walks and near flat walks along the river and some through stone walled grass fields with lots of sheep. The food at the Lister was excellent and we had meals in the morning, midday and evening. Great selection of real ales. Very attentive and engaging staff. "
