"A lovely apartment right in the centre of Bowness-On-Windermere. The accommodation was spotless, cleaning spray, washing up liquid and cloths were provided.
The bed was lovely and comfortable.
People have mentioned the stairs up to the apartment. They caused us no problem but if people have mobility problems I can understand they might be a problem.
If we return to the area we would stay here again. I am glad I didn’t book somewhere in Windermere, this was five minute walk to the lake. "

"Lovely hotel room immaculately clean and comfortable, our room had large bathroom with jacuzzi bath ,breakfast excellent . Staff very pleasant and helpful, set in peaceful location lovely gardens."
"You really do pay for what you get. All of the staff from reception, bar staff and waiting on staff were extremely attentive, polite and professional.
The hotel has a premium price tag yet everything there from side tables, lamps and mirrors are all premium. The decor is respectful to the original building yet they have also managed to make the hotel new.
We drank in the bar, we ate in the restaurant, used the spa and booked treatments - it was exceptional.
We arrived home today and plan on booking this hotel for over Christmas. We loved it!"

"Just spent 3 nights at the brown horse, very pleasant stay.Great food and drink, a choice of ales. Very friendly staff, great service. Dog friendly rooms were good size and very comfy, even got a welcome pack for the dog. Very clean, with everything you needed, overall very nice stay, will definitely revisit."

"Very Scottish decor’ for some reason.
Staff were over worked and doing multiple jobs as best as they could and as quickly as they good. Tending bar, taking orders, waiting on tables - just one person! They really struggled at breakfast with a coach party all coming down to eat at the same time and only two waitresses and one chef to handle everything. I could see how frustrated the staff and the customers were getting with the whole situation. The room was clean and tidy with good tea and coffee amenities. TV was working well. Bathroom looked recently refurbished. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout. I really liked their “free drink instead of housekeeping” option, which I absolutely decided to go for. Hotel is conveniently located to train station and a short walk into Kendal town centre. "
