"The Essential was a great place to stay right along the Interlaken West train stop, literally out the back door. With the door closed however, we couldn't even hear the trains stopping. Excellent rooms and breakfast as well. This isn't a cheap place to stay but well worth the money when you need a quiet and comfortable place to recharge after active days in the mountains. "

"Wengen is a wonderful home base for exploring the area, you are closer to Jungfrau to get there early before the crowds. We loved the nearby restaurants. The Mannlichen gondola is incredible, a must-do when staying in Wengen. The staff were professional and the breakfast was superb. Our bed was quite comfortable. "The views from the hotel are beautiful, but to get there is difficult thru very narrow streets. Walk to the train station is convenient which allows easy access to all area activities, but the return walk is strenuous as it is quite a hill to climb. Parking is limited at the hotel. The hotel itself is very nicely decorated inside, rooms are clean, breakfast service is very good, staff is pleasant. Hotel appears older and in need of some structural upgrades on the outside."
