"A very good experience checking in. Got an upgrade which was great. The room was large, lounge living area, and two seperate bedrooms. The athroom was large with a very good shower and a seperate toilet which is most unusual for this type of place. All was clean and well stocked. The manager was helpful, friendly, and a had a great sense of humour. Very good experience over all"

"AAA Marlin is an older property that has been refurbished recently. Older means bigger rooms, bigger bathrooms, and a full kitchen (not just a kitchenette.) Big bed was fairly comfy. Also has laundry facilities and a wee barbeque for guests to use. Friendly staff went out of their way to offer help. Supermarket 7 min walking distance, handy for ferries too."

"We had a very warm welcome from Fiona on reception. She was so helpful throughout our stay. My husband had a problem with his ankle so the walk into town bit of a struggle for him. We hadn’t realised it was about a 30 minute walk into town. Fiona was an absolute gem and even dropped us to the station for our train journey. We were in room 15 and it was an odd shape so didn’t have much room to move around once you got your luggage inside. Kitchen facility was good but no where to eat your food...

"We booked this room for a night's sleepover only after coming off the late afternoon ferry crossing from Wellington. The room was compact, so would have been limited for a longer stay but was all we needed. Had a good sized, modern bathroom."

"This place is excellent, we only had the basic studio with private bathroom, it was clean well equipped, iron ironing board, kettle, toaster microwave, spare bed, the large queen bed super comfortable, crisp sheets very good night sleep, great TV and access to all sky, lots of lovely clean towels and very good shower. Fully recommend "

The only thing that let it down for us is that the unit we had was an upstairs one fronting the road and was very noisy - especially with trucks traveling up and down the road all through the night (and some inconsiderate drivers using their engine brakes)."
