"Beautiful hotel, great service and the Blok restaurant was very nice. Disappointing with such limited use of spa facilities, which we couldnt use due to the timing of our evening meal, amd breakfast. Overall a lovely hotel though, would stay again but be a little more savvy with planning to maximise the stay. One thing to bare in mind is the additional costs for your stay. £25 early check in, £18 breakfast (pp), extra cost to use the outdoor heated pool and, of course, treatments at circa £90pp...

"Room was comfortable . Food was ok but hotel busy with other functions on so felt odd eating alone. Car park a bit tricky to find - but the instructions on hotel website are very clear and better than Sat Nav. Didn’t fancy walking to another establishment so skipped breakfast ( but that was my choice due to time pressures)"

"Very friendly welcome and lovely old pub with friendly locals and good pub food. Great service and felt very welcome from moment I arrived. Decor in rooms a little bit tired and accommodation simpler maybe than some would like but good for me - bathroom great and for the money, perfectly fine. "Staff were very helpful and accommodating and the request that I may have had also one of the rooms was not up to standard so the staff managed to relocate us to a different room overall good stay not any issues whatsoever in a very pleasant and enjoyable experience"

"Parkgate is a great place to stay for a day or two in Cardiff. Walking distance from Cardiff Market, Castle and high street. Great food options and shopping nearby. The staff was great and very helpful. The spa (which is a separate business located in the hotel) wasn’t our favorite but the hotel itself is great. Definitely recommend."

"Lovely staff. Really nice hotel. View from window was amazing. Breakfast was brilliant. The only thing I would say what needs improving is the bathrooms a little updating. Room 506. Tiles seem a bit dated and could do with a good ( ones on side of bath joining to the floor) clean. Apart from that room was lovely. "

"This was a New Year's Eve stay - we had dinner in a nearby restaurant and then returned to the hotel's 6th floor bar. It was a relief to find a civilised space after the noise of the restaurant and surrounding streets. We'd been told the bar would close at 11pm, but the bar staff kept it open for those of us up there at midnight - which was hugely appreciated - and into the bargain we were able to see spectacular fireworks from across Cardiff Bay. Other highlights included the excellent buffet breakfast, my comfortable bed and the shower, with buttons to turn it on and off. The hotel is located in the Dominion Arcade and has 24 hour reception, which makes it more secure."
